Art Therapy Week of Civic Engagement
After a four year advocacy campaign, we are excited to share and celebrate this great news for the California Art Therapy community. California Senate Concurrent Resolution 60 has been passed and it recognizes the positive impact of art therapy on the state. Art Therapy Week of Civic Engagement commemorates the contributions of professional Art Therapists within California’s communities.
What is art therapy? Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, the creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a supportive, safe and therapeutic relationship.
Why Civic Engagement? Civic involvement is important and creates a positive impact within one’s town or home community and administrations. Civic engagement promotes the quality of life in a community through both political and non-political processes.
